Overview

The 7-day Lemosho route is renowned as one of Mount Kilimanjaro’s most scenic and rewarding trails. Starting on the mountain's remote western side, this route provides a steady, gradual ascent that enhances acclimatization and offers a higher summit success rate. You will traverse diverse ecosystems, beginning with lush montane forests teeming with wildlife, before transitioning into the vast, otherworldly landscapes of the Shira Plateau. The journey continues through the dramatic high-altitude alpine desert, passing the iconic Lava Tower and the exhilarating Barranco Wall. As you join the Southern Circuit, you’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views before your final push. The challenge culminates in a midnight ascent to Stella Point and finally Uhuru Peak—the "Roof of Africa" at 5,895m—followed by a descent through the Mweka trail. This itinerary perfectly balances physical challenge with natural beauty, making it an ideal choice for adventurous trekkers.
