Day by day itinerary

  1. 1Edinburgh, to the West Highlands and Oban⌄

    Take a stroll through the picturesque village of Luss, scenic banks of Loch Lomond

    Photo stop at the dramatic Rest and Be Thankful viewpoint.

    Pause in the historic town of Inveraray for lunch

    Auchindrain Heritage Village, a fascinating open-air museum showcasing traditional Highland life.

    Short walk to discover standing stones and burial cairns that date back thousands of years at Kilmartin Glen, home to over 800 ancient monuments.

    Short stop

    Seaside town of Oban, known as the “Gateway to the Isles”, and famous for McCaig’s Folly, it's equivalent of the Colosseum, where you’ll have the option to visit Oban Distillery for a whisky tasting before settling into your accommodation for the night.

  2. 2The Jacobite Steam Train to Skye⌄

    Breathtaking scenery of Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most dramatic glens, and a chance for photos of its rugged peaks.

    Visit the Glencoe Visitor Centre to learn about the area’s history.

    Early lunch in Fort William.

    (Optional) Board the Jacobite Steam Train, one of the world’s most scenic and well-known rail journeys. Sit back and relax as the train crosses the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, made famous by the Harry Potter films

    Short ferry crossing to the Isle of Skye.

    Disembark from the ferry.

    Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, for lunch.

    Culloden Battlefield, the poignant site of the final Jacobite rising.

    Pause for refreshments in Pitlochry, a charming Perthshire town.

Starts: We depart outside the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and opposite Buchanan Bus Station.

Ends: Our tour will return to Edinburgh Waverley Station. We will provide pre paid train tickets.

  • This tour can be booked with accommodation included or without. If booking your own accommodation, it must be within 2km of Oban and Portree town centre.
  • Luggage is restricted to one medium sized suitcase per person. For guidance: a medium sized suitcase is considered 60-69cm high and roughly 45cm in width. Luggage storage facilities operated by a third-party are available in Edinburgh.
  • Please note that on the following dates, the ferry will not operate; instead, we will travel to the Isle of Skye by crossing the Skye Bridge: 01/06, 07/09, 18/09.
