Overview

Victoria Cruise Lines was founded in New York in 1993. It is the only American-managed cruise line on the Yangtze, sailing the Three Gorges since 1994. More than two million guests have sailed with the fleet. Five ships, all five-star by China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism: Victoria Jenna, Katarina, Anna, Sabrina, and Isabella (about 264-690 guests). Public rooms mix European and Asian design. Standard cabins have a private balcony, bathtub, and satellite TV; Wi-Fi is available onboard. This 5-day/4-night Yichang-Chongqing sailing usually departs: Monday Sabrina; Wednesday Isabella; Thursday Jenna; Friday Katarina; Saturday Anna. No regular upstream sailing Tuesday or Sunday. Your confirmation names the ship; winter and holiday weeks can differ. Sailings have a Western cruise director and English-speaking river guides. Days include lectures and cultural activities.

  1. 1Yichang Arrival & Boarding in Maoping⌄

    Meet at Yichang Sanxia Center Cruise Terminal between 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM. Show your boarding information and take the free shuttle to Maoping Port. The ship does not dock downtown.

    Meet at Yichang East Railway Station(Yichang Tourist Information Center) Cruise Terminal between 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM. Show your boarding information and take the free shuttle to Maoping Port. The ship does not dock downtown.

  2. 2Three Gorges Dam Site & Ship's Elevator⌄

    Shore excursion to the Three Gorges Dam. Walk the viewing platforms to see the five-stage ship lock and take in the scale of the world’s largest hydropower project by generating capacity.

    Optional extra at 1:45 PM: Board a sightseeing boat for the Three Gorges ship lift and be raised or lowered through the dam. You do not stay on your cruise ship.

  3. 3Wu Gorge, Qutang Gorge & Baidi City⌄

    Board a smaller boat to cruise Shennong Stream, a narrow tributary of the Yangtze. Pass beneath steep cliffs and look for hanging coffins set into the rock.

    This afternoon, stay on board as the ship sails through Wu Gorge and Qutang Gorge, two of the Three Gorges.

    Optional extra: Visit White Emperor City (Baidi City), a hilltop temple complex overlooking Qutang Gorge. There are quite a few stairs.

  4. 4Fengdu Ghost City or Mt. Wulong Exploration⌄

    Shore excursion in Fengdu to Snow Jade Cave and Xiaoguanshan Folk Culture Park. Walk a limestone cave of white formations, then a reconstructed village of old courtyards, temples, and city gates moved before the reservoir rose.

    Optional extra, 9:30 AM–6:00 PM: Full-day trip to Wuling Mountain Great Rift Valley, with lunch included. You rejoin the ship at Fuling, not at the same dock.

  5. 5Arrival & Disembarkation in Chongqing⌄

Good to know

Starts: Meet at Sanxia Tourist Center in Yichang between 17:30 PM and 19:30 PM on Day 1. Search “Sanxia Tourist Center” in Google Maps. Show your boarding information and transfer to the cruise shuttle for Maoping Port. The ship does not dock downtown.

Ends: The tour ends at Chongqing Port on Day 5 after disembarkation at 09:00.
