1Cao Bang City to Ban Gioc: Craft Villages & Waterfall⌄
Meet your English-speaking local guide and Easy Rider at the Cao Bang Travel office in Cao Bang City. Your guide and rider are members of Cao Bang’s local ethnic communities and know the region’s roads, culture, and villages firsthand. After a route briefing, helmet fitting, luggage check, and motorbike safety inspection, begin your small-group Cao Bang Loop adventure toward Ma Phuc Pass.
Ride through Ma Phuc Pass, one of the most scenic mountain gateways on the Cao Bang Loop. Stop at a panoramic viewpoint to admire winding roads, limestone peaks, green valleys, and quiet rural villages before continuing deeper into the countryside.
Visit Phja Thap, a traditional Nung An village known for handmade incense. Meet local artisans and learn how natural forest materials are prepared, shaped, and dried in the sun using skills passed down through generations.
Stop in Phuc Sen to discover the village’s long-established metalworking tradition. Observe skilled Nung An artisans at work and learn how locally forged tools remain an important part of everyday life and ethnic culture in Cao Bang.
Explore Nguom Ngao Cave with your local guide and walk through impressive underground chambers extending beneath the limestone mountains. See stalactites, stalagmites, and naturally sculpted formations while learning about the cave’s geology, local names, and cultural stories.
Experience Ban Gioc Waterfall, one of the signature highlights of the Cao Bang Loop. Set along the Vietnam–China border, the waterfall is surrounded by limestone mountains, rice fields, and the emerald waters of the Quay Son River. Walk to the main viewpoints and enjoy time for photographs. When local operating and water conditions allow, board a bamboo raft for a closer view of the cascading falls.
Walk up the hillside steps to Phat Tich Truc Lam Ban Gioc Pagoda. Explore the peaceful temple grounds, learn about the history and spiritual importance of the border region, and enjoy wide views across the Quay Son River valley toward Ban Gioc Waterfall.
End the afternoon beside the Quay Son River, surrounded by limestone peaks, fields, and peaceful border countryside. Enjoy a relaxed walk along the river or, during suitable summer conditions and with your guide’s approval, take a refreshing swim.

2Ngoc Con Viewpoint – Angel Eye Mountain – Pac Bo⌄
Start the day with breakfast at the Ban Gioc homestay. Pack your belongings, check out, and prepare for a longer ride through remote valleys and mountain countryside toward Ngoc Con and Pac Bo.
Hike to Ngoc Con Viewpoint above the headwaters of the Quay Son River. The trail leads through peaceful countryside and gradually climbs toward a panoramic mountain viewpoint. From the top, admire winding waterways, rice fields, limestone peaks, and remote villages rarely visited by large tour groups. The route has a moderate elevation gain and is best suited to travelers with a reasonable level of fitness.
Continue to Angel Eye Mountain, also known as the Eye of the Mountain God, one of Cao Bang’s most distinctive limestone landscapes. Travel into the open valley beneath the mountain’s enormous natural rock opening and enjoy views of grasslands, surrounding peaks, and rural countryside. Depending on the season, weather, and water level, explore the area on an easy walk, by kayak, or by a small local boat. The exact activity will be confirmed by the guide according to conditions on the day.
Arrive in Pac Bo and check in at a cozy, locally run homestay. Take time to rest or join your guide for a gentle walk around the village, meeting local residents and observing everyday rural life. Gather for a home-cooked dinner with your hosts and group. Share stories with your English-speaking local guide, learn about local customs and family life, and enjoy a relaxed cultural exchange in the village. Adult guests may also be offered a small optional taste of locally made rice wine.
