  2. 2Day 2: Nasu – Nikko – Tokyo (Toshogu Shrine, Chuzenji Lake & Kegon Falls)⌄

Nikkō Tōshō-gū is one of Japan’s most magnificent shrines and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate. Surrounded by ancient cedar trees, the shrine complex features richly decorated gates, intricate carvings, and vibrant colors that contrast with the natural setting. Highlights include the iconic Yōmei-mon Gate, the Three Wise Monkeys, and the lavishly adorned main hall. Our licensed guide will accompany guests through the complex, sharing insights into the history of the Tokugawa era, Shinto beliefs, and the architectural symbolism behind each structure. Visitors will gain a deeper understanding of Japan’s spiritual heritage, from purification rituals to the integration of nature and worship. Whether you're interested in religion, history, or art, Tōshō-gū offers a deeply enriching cultural experience led by a knowledgeable professional.

Our licensed guide will lead a scenic walk along Lake Chuzenji, sharing the history of this peaceful lakeside retreat once favored by foreign diplomats. Guests can enjoy the serene atmosphere, mountain views, and seasonal nature. The guide will also explain the lake’s connection to nearby temples and Nikko's spiritual heritage.

Our licensed guide will accompany guests to Kegon Falls, one of Japan’s most famous waterfalls. You'll descend via elevator to the lower observation deck for an up-close view of the powerful 97-meter drop.
