Overview

Experience the authentic Hmong culture on a 2-day journey from Sapa to Ta Van. Trek through the scenic Muong Hoa Valley, rice terraces and traditional villages, then stay overnight with a local family in Ta Van. Shop for local ingredients, join a hands-on Hmong cooking class, and enjoy a traditional dinner together.

On Day 2, discover the traditional art of Hmong Batik with a local artisan. Learn to work with natural beeswax, indigo dye and traditional patterns, then create your own Batik artwork. Dress in traditional Hmong clothing for photos and take home your handmade Batik piece and a small brocade souvenir.

Day by day itinerary

  1. 1Trekking from Sapa to Ta Van + Local Market & Cooking Class⌄

    8:15 - 8:30 AM: Meet the local guide at your hotel in Sapa.

    8:30 - 9:30 AM: Start trekking from Sapa downhill toward Muong Hoa Valley.

    9:30 - 10:45 AM: Arrive at Y Linh Ho Village, home to the Black Hmong people. Walk through rice terraces, mountain trails and local villages.

    10:45 - 12:00 PM Continue trekking through Lao Chai Village, learning about Black Hmong culture, traditional houses and daily life.

    12:00 - 13:00 PM Local lunch in Lao Chai/Ta Van.

    13:30 - 14:30 PM: Continue trekking to Ta Van Village, passing rice terraces and traditional village paths.

    14:30 - 15:00 PM Check in at a local homestay and take some time to rest.

    15:00 - 16:00 PM: Local Market Shopping Experience: Walk with your host/guide to a local market or local food shop to buy ingredients for dinner. Guests can learn about local vegetables, herbs, meat and other ingredients commonly used by local families.

    16:00 - 18:00 PM Hmong Local Cooking Class: Join the host family in preparing a traditional local dinner. Guests can participate in simple hands-on cooking activities, using the ingredients purchased earlier.

    19:00 - 23:00 PM Enjoy the dinner you have prepared together with the host family. Evening – Free time to relax at the homestay, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Ta Van and interact with the local family.

  2. 2Hmong Batik Workshop + Return to Sapa⌄

    8:00 - 9:00 AM: Breakfast at the homestay.

    9:00 - 11:30 AM: - Traditional Hmong Batik Workshop Meet a local Hmong artisan and discover the history and cultural meaning of traditional Hmong Batik. Learn how to use: • Natural beeswax • Traditional chan wax-drawing tool • Indigo dye • Traditional Hmong patterns Create your own Batik artwork with guidance from the local artisan. 10:30 – Traditional Hmong Costume Experience Borrow traditional Hmong clothing and dress up for photos around the village and workshop area. Guests can take photos with the artisan, traditional house, rice terraces and surrounding scenery. 11:00–11:30 – Finish the Batik experience.

    11:30 - 13:30 PM: Return to homestay, check out. Then have a lunch. After that transfer back to Sapa Town.
