Day by day itinerary

1. 1Bragança to Freixo de Espada à Cinta (234 km)⌄

   Discover this Natural Park and visit the town of Montesinho, a small and relaxed village surrounded by pristine nature and fresh air. The perfect place to get used to the motorcycle that will accompany you for the next few days, little traffic and a relaxing drive.

   Another highlight of the region of Bragança. A village that sits at the exact border between Portugal and Spain, where it's inhabitants are living proof that borders are no more than lines on maps. An exquisite and unique place, a must visit in the region.

   One of the most remote towns in Portugal, whose distance spawned an alternative dialect which became the second and only official language of the country: the Mirandês. Host to a plethora of unique culture, gastronomy, habits and sightseeing spots. With lots of amazing restaurants with all natural products, this is the perfect place for lunch.

   Greet the Douro River as it surfaces to your left. You will now drive the roads that run parallel to the river, with very little traffic and amazing bends. The day concludes by Freixo de Espada à Cinta, a town surrounded with mysticism and symbolism, with it's own castle and historical value, it will help you dream with times of kings of previous times

2. 2Freixo de Espada à Cinta to Peso da Régua (178 km)⌄

   Give a new meaning to "rise and shine": you'll go up to what is probably the best viewpoint in entire Portugal- Penedo Durão. One of the best hidden secrets in Portugal, it will make it's way into your long-term memories and live there rent-free.

   Visit the amazing museum about pre-historic art that is a case-study in world architecture. It is possible to see the exhibits in display about the 30000 year old rock carvings in full detail, recommended.

   Experience the N222, renowned as one of the world's best roads, it will take you to your next destination: Peso da Régua.

   This museum must be experienced as it gives meaning to the importance of the Douro valley for the region and which also helped shape world politics as we know today. The tour of this museum is part of this tour and includes a wine tasting session. Don't worry: no more driving for today and the hotel is within walking distance.

3. 3Peso da Régua to Porto (140 km)⌄

   Cross this bridge over the Douro valley. If you've seen pictures of the city of Porto, chances are that you've seen this famous bridge

   A must-see area of Porto, filled with historical buildings all facing your well-known river Douro (which as accompanied you for the last 2 days). With views to the warehouses that store Port wine from where it is shipped worldwide.

4. 4Porto to Parque Nacional Peneda-Gerês (198 km)⌄

   Visit this sanctuary which also provides the perfect viewpoint for the city of Viana do Castelo and the Atlantic ocean.

   Visit this sanctuary which gives you an excellent view of the city of Braga.

   Enter this national park, famous for it's pristine nature and wild life. It is possible to see wild horses in this park.

5. 5Parque Nacional Peneda-Gerês to Bragança (200 km)⌄

   This is a secondary road, with low traffic and great views, this road will take you back to Bragança, crossing 2 National parks and other beautiful regions.

   Visit Chaves, a city where roman influence and infrastructure is always visible. Great for pictures and to try some local products.

   As you pass by the town of Vinhais, you'll re-enter the Montesinho Natural Park. Distinguishable by the high density of oak trees, this park will paint the landscape in different colors, depending on which season you visit.
