This 4-day, 3-night journey offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience the genuine nomadic life of Morocco. We’ve designed this tour for travelers who want to delve deeper into the Berber way of life, spending nights with nomadic families who have lived in tents and caves for centuries, surrounded by their animals and thriving in the simplicity of nature.

From staying in authentic desert tents under the stars to sleeping in cave dwellings, all while experiencing the warmth of nomadic hospitality, this trip goes beyond typical sightseeing. You’ll learn about the resourceful ways of the indigenous Amazigh (Berber) people and experience how they live sustainably off the land and care for their animals.

The tour is filled with adventure, from camel treks over the dunes of Erg Chebbi to scenic hikes through the dramatic landscapes of the Dades and Toudra Gorges.

Day by day itinerary

  1. 1Marrakech- High Atlas- Aitbenhaddou - Roses valley :⌄

    Start your 4-day adventure with hassle-free pick-up from Marrakech just book and share your location, and if you're staying in a Riad, we’ll meet you at the nearest accessible parking for your convenience

    After pick-up, we’ll head towards the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains, making a few stops along the way for coffee, photos, and to take in stunning landscapes at an elevation of 2,260 meters above sea level

    After a scenic 3-hour drive from Marrakech, passing through natural landscapes, Berber villages, and majestic mountains, we’ll arrive at Ksar Ait Benhaddou around 1:00 PM. Known as the 'Gladiator Town,' this UNESCO World Heritage site is famous for its impressive earthen architecture and its role as a backdrop for movies like Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones. Enjoy a 1-hour guided walk through this historic ksar, exploring its ancient streets and panoramic views, followed by a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.

    After lunch, we’ll drive just 30 minutes to Ouarzazate, known as the 'Hollywood of Morocco.' Here, we’ll take a break at a shopping mall where you can pick up beverages or alcohol for a memorable desert night ahead, if desired

    Following our stop in Ouarzazate, we’ll continue with a 1.5-hour drive along the famous 'Route of a Thousand Kasbahs' through Skoura’s lush oasis, reaching the enchanting Rose Valley for an overnight stay surrounded by breathtaking scenery

  2. 2Dades Gorge - Toudra Gorge - Sahara Desert Camp⌄

    The following morning, after breakfast, we’ll journey through the spectacular Dades Gorge, renowned for its dramatic rock formations, deep red cliffs, and winding roads. This stunning landscape, carved by the Dades River over centuries, offers breathtaking views of rugged canyons and unique geological formations, including the famous 'Monkey Fingers' rock formations. It's a paradise for nature lovers and photographers alike, with endless opportunities to capture the beauty of Morocco’s diverse terrain

    From Dades Gorge, your drive to Toudra Gorge reveals stunning landscapes with red rock formations, ancient kasbahs, and green oases. On arrival, take a short walk through the oasis, where date palms and lush vegetation meet towering cliffs over 300 meters high, creating a breathtaking and serene atmosphere

    After Toudra Gorge, we’ll continue to Merzouga, passing through charming Berber villages along the way. Here, we’ll stop for photos in traditional Berber attire and shop for scarves perfect for the desert experience. We'll also enjoy a lunch break to recharge before our journey into the golden dunes of Merzouga

    Two hours before sunset, we’ll arrive in Merzouga, where the vast Sahara Desert and the stunning sand dunes of Erg Chebbi await. Your camels will be ready to take you on a memorable trek, leading you to an authentic overnight stay with indigenous nomad families in traditional nomadic tents—different from the luxurious camps. This unique experience lets you fully embrace the true beauty of the Sahara and the warmth of nomadic hospitality. Enjoy a traditional dinner, peaceful rest in simple tents, and the presence of nomads, their children, and livestock, immersing you in the soul of the desert

  3. 3From the Nomads in Tents To Nomads in Caves⌄

    stunning sunrise over the desert, with views of nomadic communities and the distant Algerian border. A nomadic woman will prepare freshly baked bread, served with an authentic breakfast of date jam and tea infused with local herbs. After this special meal, you’ll ride your camel back to meet your transport. From here, we’ll set off for Dades Gorge, where an exciting day of hiking and canyoning awaits in Morocco’s remarkable landscape

    We’ll arrive in Boumalne Dades around noon, where we’ll have lunch before setting out on a unique 3-hour hike to the iconic Monkey Fingers rock formations, led by a knowledgeable local guide. Along the way, you’ll visit nomadic families who have lived in caves for centuries, gaining insight into the lives of Morocco’s indigenous people and their enduring traditions. This hike offers a rare opportunity to connect with the rich cultural heritage of the Dades region

    Spend an unforgettable night with a nomadic family, choosing to sleep in a cave or a traditional tent. Experience their hospitality, learn how they live from nature, and enjoy a warm dinner around the fire, surrounded by animals and stories.   4. 4From the Nomadic Caves To Marrakech⌄

    Wake up with the first light to watch the nomads start their day, preparing for the journey to graze animals, gather firewood, and collect water from miles away. After this peaceful morning, we’ll set out on a 3-hour hike from the caves to Dades Gorge. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a warm lunch with a local family and dive into Berber culture learning about their traditions, hospitality, and the rhythm of farming life

    After lunch, we’ll begin our journey back to Marrakech, passing through Ouarzazate. Along the way, we’ll take a few breaks for coffee, restrooms, and photo opportunities, capturing the last memories of this beautiful landscape. Our trip concludes with a drop-off at your chosen location in Marrakech
